A Look At Jurassic World: Dominion, or “We Were Too Hard On Jurassic Park 3”

Warning: Major Spoilers For Jurassic World: Dominion Ahead

I wasn’t planning on doing an article on this film. I mean I did, but not originally. What’s it to you? Anyway, this film has been on my mind for almost a week now. The first few days left me wondering how I actually felt about it, and then the rest of the week was about why I felt the way I felt. There isn’t much structure to this article (there usually isn’t anyway), but it’s mostly going to be my overall thoughts on the film, and why I ended up not being its biggest fan.

Let’s get my biggest issue with the film is, and it’s going to be the same as everyone else’s, the premise. Universal had the easiest premise for this film; dinosaurs roaming the Earth in modern times. That’s all they needed to do. We sat through Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom for this, and waited those few years. What did we get? Big locusts, and then big flaming hot locusts. Oh, the dinosaurs are there, and they do have some cool action scenes, but they don’t feel like the focus. At least not the main focus.

If you remember the ending of the previous film, you’ll know that the dinosaurs were let loose out into the world. In this film they’re regulated to being shown interacting with the world, and people, through exposition dumps done through the lenses of phone cameras and news reports. Lame. Outside of that, we only get glimpses of what we could’ve gotten, such as the scene with that dinosaur at the construction site at the beginning. The long…
