Evil Dead (2013) Overview, or “What’s In a Remake? Blood. Lots of Blood”
Warning: Spoilers Ahead For Evil Dead (2013), An Almost 10 Year Old Movie.
My favorite horror franchise of all time has to be Sam Rami’s Evil Dead. To me, it is the perfect blend of horror and comedy. It has one of the best protagonists ever, Ash Williams, and one of the best antagonists ever, the Necronomicon. Also, there’s a lot of Bruce Campbell. In these trying times, we need more Bruce Campbell to get through the day. The original trilogy of films (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness) are peak entertainment. You have the gritty, low budget horror of the original, the black comedy of the sequel, and the charming slapstick of the third. It all blends together in a nice, gory package.

Do you do a simple shot for shot remake? Psycho (1998) Or take it into a new direction, but keep the spirit of the original? Halloween (2007). In the case of the 2013 remake of Evil Dead, it sort of does both.

However, things take a dark turn when they find…
