Metal: Hellsinger is a 2022 FPS rhythm game developed by The Outsiders. Let me tell you, this PonyBoy stayed gold.

The story here is simple, you play as a demon called the Unknown who wants her voice back. To get her voice back, she must go through Hell and defeat the Judge.

Is the Judge the Devil? Probably. Maybe. Don’t worry about it.

It’s a nice story. It fits into the theme of music that’s coated the game like caramel on an apple.

Before we get to the gameplay and music, I want to briefly discuss the levels themselves.

They’re fine.

Each level consists of linear pathways with some arenas wedged in them. They fulfill their purpose and not much else.

You got your ice level, you have a ruins level, and then don’t forget the industrial area. It wouldn’t be Hell without the reminder of poorly built buildings everywhere.

There isn’t much to differentiate between each level other than the superficial themes they each have, and by the end they all blend together into a mishmash of red, brown and sometimes green.

It’s like all the worst parts of a post Taco Bell run.
