My Thoughts on Evil Dead Rise (2023).
So, I just got out of the theater after seeing the new Evil Dead film, and I have some thoughts.
They’re good thoughts! I swear! It has lived up to the hype and was a good time. It had almost everything I wanted from an Evil Dead entry.
I want to take this opportunity to give my first thoughts on the film and briefly discuss them. This isn’t going to be a full-blown review as I’m just a little late to the party. However, whenever the film is released for home media, I’ll do a more in-depth review and see if my feelings for the film change at all.
So what’s the story? Well, Beth (Lily Sullivan) goes to see her sister, Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland), and Ellie’s three kids; Bridget (Gabrielle Echols), Danny (Morgan Davies), and Kassie (Nell Fisher). However, things get chaotic, and supernatural when The Book of the Dead finds its way into the apartment building the family is residing in.
The aspect I was worried about the most with this movie was the relationships between the characters. In any possession movie, there has to be a strong bond between the characters to make the moment where evil takes over hit the hardest. Here, I think that the film pulls it off.
We get to see the family hang out and interact with each other in a way that feels real and natural. If I had to choose my…
