Snow, Climate, and Growing Up.

Living in the Midwest during winter is a lot like a layered cake; the deeper you go, the more surprises you’ll find. One day it can be a blizzard and the next a cool 70 degrees.

However, this year there has been little snow. As I drove to work watching rays of sunlight kiss the tops of dead trees, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of sadness. Winter has always been my favorite season as I love the sight of freshly fallen snow clinging to the earth like a shivering blanket.

Throughout a single night, we can find ourselves transported to a new, icy world.

As the years go on and the climate changes, so do the seasons. As the years go by, we change as well. However, I also think that while we should grow and change and try new things, we shouldn’t forget that winter wonderland.

Don’t be afraid to keep that child-like sense of awe and wonder at the world. It’s okay to want to run about in the snow and throw snowballs or make a snowman. Sure, we gain more responsibilities as we grow older, but we shouldn’t let the weight of those duties keep us down.

Every so often it’s okay to stop worrying about bills, work, and the overall stress that comes with growing up and go out and have fun.

Growing up may not be fun, but we can still go out and play in the snow. Dream big and let your mind soar high, but don’t forget to come back down to Earth.
