Some Quick Thoughts on Evil Dead Rise, or “Yeah, I’m Already Sold”.

So, the trailer for Evil Dead Rise has finally come out after months of waiting. With that, we now have a clearer view of what the film will bring. What will it bring exactly?

Classic Sam Rami goodness.

We got the gore, we got the creative kills, we got those sweet sweet practical effects, and we got a chainsaw. Best of all, it looks creepy.

I was glad to see that the trailer didn’t rely on jump scares to make the audience flinch, but rather use the disturbing imagery they already have to make us squirm.

It plays to the strength of the Deadites, getting into the heads of their victims by just standing there with those big grins.

I’m also excited to see what they do with the setting, an apartment building. It looks like there will still be a cabin, but it won’t be the focus. Which is fine. I’m glad that they’re using a new setting.

It reminds me of Night of the Demons 2, if I’m being honest.

If there is something I’m worried about, it’s the character relationships. With the main one being a mother, her kids, and her sister. I think that the relationship between this cast has to be spot on for this film to stand out.

That being said, I also hope that we can get the same crazy action and intense suspense that made the other entries so entertaining.

What do you think though? Will there be more hands being cut off? Will we see a cameo from Bruce Campbell? How about a post-credits scene where Morbius shows up?
