The Double Edged Sword of Blind Buying.
Image Provided by IMDb.
Ah yes, the blind buy. A concept born out of impulsiveness and disposable income. A power that terrifies the wallet and excites the economy.
While I am sure that everyone who reads this is responsible with their money, there is sometimes a waiver in the stone wall defense against those inflation-tickling purchases.
So, what is a blind buy, and what might be the consequences of it?
Well, as the name implies, blind buying is something we don’t see coming until we’re sitting in our car.
It is the act of purchasing something out of pure whim. There isn’t much motivation other than “Wow, that looks cool!” or “I might like that!”.
I was a victim of this mindset recently when I ventured out to my local Best Buy in search of some new headphones. However, my ears still remain covered by my old pair, but my shelf is a little fatter.
When I came across a copy of Streets of Fire, I was immediately drawn to the box art. It had that mix of grit and camp that I adore so much.
Look to Evil Dead 2 for an example of this.
Anyway, it didn’t take much more convincing to get me to purchase it. And now it sits on my shelf as a possible cautionary tale.
